School Selection & Strategic Application Advising

As students advance in their academic careers, the multitude of educational options can be overwhelming. Greenberg Educational Group helps guide students and their families through the challenges of school selection/application essays and provides personalized, comprehensive advisory services through every step of the process. By assessing an individual student’s needs, academic history, and goals, we devise a strategy to help maximize success. Each school has distinct personalities, programs, and admissions processes, making expert guidance essential in this multifaceted process.

We assist with the following for all school levels:

  • Guiding you through what schools to visit, when, and what to look for.

  • Identifying reach, target, and safety schools.

  • Determining what application rounds (if applicable) make the most sense for your student.

  • Explaining all aspects of the application.

  • Helping students and parents write the most compelling, authentic essays from their lived and learned experiences.

  • Presenting a strong list of extracurricular, community service, and summer activities.

  • Mock interviews.

  • Supporting you and your family during the decision-making process.

  • And lastly, celebrating!

We offer strategic advising for:

  • NYC-area elementary and middle schools are unique in terms of curriculum, personality, and admissions. Because such schools tend to make  changes frequently, what was true in admissions a year ago can be drastically different now. We help provide clear explanations and strategic advice on how, when, and where your child could thrive for the rest of their K-8 education by:

    • Helping parents find the best fit for their child (academically and socially).

    • Assisting parents with strategically determining at what grade level their student should apply to NYC-area private schools.

    • Expertly  guiding you through the school selection and application process.

  • Some high schools are connected with middle schools and elementary schools, while others are stand-alone. It is important to evaluate the advantages and disadvantages of each type. Regardless of whether it is a private or public school, no two schools are the same. We can expertly guide you through this challenging maze by:

    • Assessing whether a private or public school is better for a student and their family.

    • Determining what school vibe (academic and social) is the strongest  fit for the student.

    • Evaluating a school’s college admissions stats to see what is the best fit for your student.

  • College is a student’s first step into adulthood. Finding the right school to call home for the next 4 years can feel daunting, but with thoughtful strategic advising, we make it easier. Whether your student is interested in sports, business, medicine, sports, business, medicine, engineering, or the humanities we can guide you through every possibility! We provide both domestic and international college advising. We assist with:

    • Deliberating pre-professional programs vs. humanities programs.

    • Examining what aspects inside & outside the classroom are most important to the student.

    • Assessing the vibe of the school—how to do it and why it matters so much.

    • Determining how to select the best fit college if there are multiple acceptances.

  • There are so many different types of graduate schools and varying entry requirements that expert help is essential. While there are some similarities regarding the U.S. college and graduate school search/admissions process, it’s crucial to gain a strong sense of short-term (school) and long-term (post-school) goals as to why a student is interested in a certain type of graduate school. We can help with:

    • Assessing what the goals of the student are and what type of graduate school is best for achieving these goals.

    • Determining which specific grad schools would be the best fit for a student (e.g. personality, program rigor/ranking, campus type/community, location, future employment opportunities, affordability).

    • Creating a strategic timetable for submitting applications based on the student’s grad school program.
